Listen in to find out why it is important to have a compelling vision. In the words of Earl Nightingale “All you need is a plan, a road map and the courage to press on to your destination”. If we don’t know where we are going, how do we know if we have got to our desired destination?
Walt Disney said words to the effect of “If you can dream it, you can do it” and these are very very powerful words. Is your big why compelling enough? I am going to use “big why”, but you could replace it with vision, goal, dream – they all lead to the same – your big why for doing what you do. Your reason for getting up in the morning. Your reason for choosing to work instead of watching TV.
Or do you find yourself trying to grow your business in the last hour of the day, when all you want to do is crash out on the sofa? Because you’ve spent most of the day running round after others? Helping them out?
We do not have to live with what life has dealt us. It is within our power to change things, to achieve great things!!!!
Do you use traditional vision boards?
There are several distinct areas that I want to share with you about a compelling big why. Let me begin by asking who has a traditional vision board? You know. The one with a posh car, a 5* holiday, luxury spa day, maybe a posh watch or jewellery – that sort of thing. I remember those days. I used to create one every year and it would be pinned to the side of my fridge for the whole year. But by mid-February it had just became part of the décor and I never really took any notice of it.
It never really inspired me, for all my commitment when I created it. I never really got behind the reason for vision boards. Although I did enjoy the creativity of making one. It reminded me of school days with lots of paper and scissors and glue, bits of magazine stuck to the carpet. You remember?
Then, a few years ago, I got introduced to Energy Vision Boards. Boy did that open my eyes and now I use this technique to create one every 6 months. In fact several of my friends love this technique so much we all get together and spend the day laughing and chatting and creating our energy vision boards. There’s piles of magazines and scissors, glue and stickers all over my kitchen table. It takes us nearly 20 minutes to clear the table so we can have lunch. Then we have the joy of starting all over again. It is a fabulous bonding time and all achieved whilst we are in flow.
